Mr K M Mammen, CMD, MRF Ltd and Mr Anshuman Singhania, Dy MD JK Tyre & Industries have been unanimously re-elected as Chairman and Vice Chairman of Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA), the national industry body for automotive tyre sector in India.
Mr K M Mammen, ATMA Chairman, is the eldest son of the late Founder Chairman of MRF, Mr K M Mammen Mappillai. He is the Chairman & Managing Director of MRF since 2003. Mr Mammen has held various executive positions in business associations in the country including as President of the Indo Australian Chamber of Commerce. He is an executive member on the board of FICCI and Chairman of the Board of Madras Christian College Association. Mr Mammen has been at the helm of every landmark that has brought the company to the milestone of over Rs 15000 crore (over USD 2.2 billion) turnover and ranking amongst top 20 tyre companies in the world.
Mr Anshuman Singhania, ATMA Vice Chairman, is a graduate from Oxford Brookes University, UK and an alumnus of London Business School. As a young leader, he started his career from the shop floor as an apprentice and has held several positions in Planning, Production, Product Development, Quality Control, Stores & Purchase, Finance as well as Sales & Marketing. Being a techno-savvy person, he has played a key role in implementing the latest technologies in the manufacturing process at JK Tyre.
Set up in 1975, ATMA is amongst the most active national industry bodies in the country representing Rs 60000 crore (US$8.5 bn) automotive tyre industry. Eleven large tyre companies comprising mix of Indian and International tyre majors and representing over 95% of production of tyres in India are members of the Association. ATMA members include Apollo Tyres, Birla Tyres, Bridgestone India, Ceat, Continental India, Goodyear India, JK Tyre & Industries, Michelin, MRF, TVS Tyres and Yokohama.
ATMA Core Group has been reconstituted. Mr. Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President Marketing, Sales & Service, Apollo Tyres Ltd is the new Convener of ATMA Industry, Public & Economic Affairs (IPEA) Group that looks at developing new markets and increasing export competitiveness of Indian tyre industry. ATMA Supply Chain & Resources (SCR) Group that works to ensure fair and sustainable supply of raw materials to the industry will now be headed by Mr. Mohan Kurian Vice President – Material, MRF Ltd. Mr. Tom Thomas, Executive Director – Tech. & Projects, CEAT Ltd, a veteran of the industry has taken over the reins of ATMA Technology, Environment, Safety & Standards (TESS) Group. The policy formulation aspects of the industry will be taken care of by Mr. Sanjiv Saxena, Sr. Vice President – Corporate Accounts, JK Tyre & Industries.as Convener of ATMA Government Affairs & Legislation (GAL) Group.
