Spearheaded by ATMA, Tyre Safety emerged as one of the most talked about concepts at the Tyrexpo India 2018 held at Pragati Maidan New Delhi. The show witnessed the participation of over 80 national and international brands. Making inaugural address, Mr Rajiv Budhraja, Director General ATMA stated that Tyre is one of the few sectors in India that have continued to make investments notwithstanding a challenging environment. He expressed hope that Tyrexpo and associated conferences will give a further fillip to the ongoing debate on making Indian tyre industry more competitive.
As a supporting association, ATMA set up an elaborate Tyre Safety pavilion located at a strategic place at the Tyrexpo. Well designed pavilion with interesting info-graphics on tyre safety fascinated the visitors. In collaboration with its technical wing – Indian Tyre Technical Advisory Committee – ATMA raised awareness on the important aspect of tyre safety and distributed literature about the same. An interesting quiz ‘How Tyresmart you are?’ was held on a specially created app with winners getting lucrative prizes.
An important aspect of the show was a seminar on Tyre Safety held by Mr S S Gusain,  Convener of ATMA Tyre Safety Group. Supported by audio-visuals, Mr Gusain underlined the indifferent approach of motorists to tyre upkeep as evident in the large percentage of poorly maintained tyres found in the ATMA/ ITTAC surveys. The well attended seminar had a prolonged Q&A session. An informed audience raised some valid concerns and discussed future roadmap.
